Corinne Okada Takara
Artist/arts educator Corinne Takara creates narratives exploring the intersection of cultures in her collaborative community projects. Takara majored in Design at Stanford University and received the Guilla MacFarland Award in Design upon graduation. She has been recognized by the City of Cupertino with The Distinguished Artist Award and in 2010 was honored as a KCI Merit Scholar by the Krause Center for Innovation. She is also the recipient of the 2010 KCI Rambus Innovation Award for the student history animation project Strawberries on Gold Mountain and was runner up for the 2009 KCI Rambus Innovation Award for Thinking Outside the Box. Her education workshops in Alum Rock San Jose have led to state and international awards for student animation projects as well as have led to student exhibits at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles and at Montalvo Arts Center. She has designed and participated in numerous grant projects such as a 2010 NEA Access to Excellence Art grant through the Zero1 Art & Technology Network.
